We’re delighted to announce that Michael’s story WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU WAKE UP IN THE NIGHT (published by Nightjar Press) won the Best Short Story Award at the British Fantasy Awards held in Nottingham last night (September 18th).
This means that Michael has now won this award more times than any other author, pulling ahead of Karl Edward Wagner and Dennis Etchison, who have won it three times.

THE INTRUDERS is nominated for the British Fantasy Award for Best Novel
THE SERVANTS is nominated for both the British and World Fantasy Awards, again for Best Novel... under the names M. M. Smith and Michael Marshall Smith respectively.
That’s two different books nominated under three different names, which may be some kind of record...
We're delighted to say that it was announced today that THE INTRUDERS is one of the seven nominees for the Crime Writers' Association's prestigious IAN FLEMING STEEL DAGGER Award, the UK's premier award for crime thriller fiction.
The award will be announced at a black tie dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel on Park Lane on Thursday, July 5th 2007. The other nominees are Alex Berenson, Harlen Coben, R. J. Ellory, Gillian Flynn, Michael Robotham, and Karin Slaughter.
